In about a month’s time, #BetterMe officially turns one. I truly believe in the essence of the movement: a Better Generation and a Better World begins with a Better Version of Myself. I am privileged to be a part of the team that got this off the ground, in spite of the fact that I migrated to California while it was a work-in-progress.
BetterMe made roots in the Philippines, which is where we are originally from, but in 2014, my family moved because of my youngest daughter’s health. We wanted to give her a better quality of life, and my husband’s job gave us this opportunity to do so. Since then we’ve settled down, found a home, and I for the most part have been getting everyone adjusted to our new living environment.
Physically life has been here. But virtually, a part of me is — and will always be — back in Manila. Straddling two timezones has been quite an opportunity, and it has given me valuable insights that I would like to share with both sides of the world. My physical location has not hindered me from contributing to BetterMe because I still believe in what we are trying to do.
A few months ago, in the advent of #BetterMe’s birthday we explored the idea of expanding the advocacy outside of the Philippines starting with where I’m (now) from — California. Because really, social media has no geographical boundaries.
And neither does this advocacy. If you are someone who strives to be a better person, then this page is for you. We share, we learn and we grow together… no matter where in the world we are.
With this next phase, you can find BetterMePH under its new name, BetterMe with posts from the Philippines and California. Join us on Twitter and Instagram at @bettermeca.
